Lake Okeechobee is named by Seminole Indians for "Big Water." Located in south central Florida, Lake Okeechobee is the second largest freshwater lake in the U.S., a massive 500 thousand acres that is six times the size of Kentucky's Lake Cumberland.

The lake has a sand bottom with an average depth of 10 feet and offers miles of vegetation. Lily Pads, Pepper Grass, Eel Grass, Hydrilla, Water Hyacinth and Saw Grass cover much of this lake and creates perfect cover to hold limits of Bass, Bream, and Crappie. The lake also offers a large variety of bird and animal life from the Eagle, Blue Heron, Snail Kite, Osprey, White Egret, Manatee, and of course the Alligator.

A DAY ON LAKE OKEECHOBEE

Your morning traffic jam is replaced by a ride in a bass boat through the marshlands to the day's first honey hole. As the warm morning sun slowly rises and begins to reflect on the water, you will find yourself drifting back to a time past. No business phones, computers or crowds, and the only sound will be a fish busting the surface chasing its morning meal. Now it's just you and the fish and every cast brings anticipation. Everywhere you look are vast areas of Lily Pads, Saw Grass and Water Hyacinth, and all look as if it will hold a fish. The only stress of this day will be, can I land this bass or will it get off. At the end of the day, the sun sets with indescribable beauty as you glide across the mirror smooth water heading for the dock. Having caught a good limit of fish you think to yourself, what a great day. You are relaxed more now than you have been in weeks as you sit back and enjoy a refreshing drink and toast the end of a perfect day.
